This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly, particularly given the sensitive nature of health and family-related information.
We collect several types of information to provide and improve our Service:
Account Information: Name, email address, and authentication credentials when you create an account.
Child and Family Information: Your child's name, date of birth, gender, sleep patterns, feeding schedules, and related wellness information that you voluntarily provide to receive personalized sleep guidance.
Health-Related Information: Sleep logs, sleep environment details, medical history relevant to sleep (as disclosed by you), and wellness assessments. This information is treated with heightened security measures.
Communication Data: Messages exchanged with consultants, appointment notes, and feedback you provide.
Payment Information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card numbers on our servers.
Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, interaction timestamps, device information, browser type, and IP address to improve our Service and user experience.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
We recognize that sleep and wellness data is sensitive. While RestWell is not a healthcare provider subject to HIPAA, we voluntarily apply heightened protections to all health-related information you share with us.
Health-related data (sleep logs, child health information, wellness assessments) is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access to this data is restricted to your assigned consultant and authorized family members you explicitly invite. We do not use health-related data for advertising purposes. We do not sell health-related data to any third party under any circumstances.
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
With Your Consultant: Your child's sleep data and relevant information is shared with your assigned sleep consultant to provide personalized guidance.
With Family Members: Information is shared with family members you explicitly invite through the Family Sharing feature.
Service Providers: We use third-party services for payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, and hosting. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secure authentication mechanisms, encrypted database storage, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to maintaining appropriate safeguards.

RestWell is designed for use by parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13. All child data is entered and managed by parents or authorized caregivers. Child profiles can be deleted at any time by the parent or caregiver who created them. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Sleep logs and reports are retained for 3 years after your last activity to support longitudinal sleep analysis. After account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing agreements). Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for research and service improvement.
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including Canada and the United States, where our servers and service providers are located. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
As a Canadian company, we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We collect, use, and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.
